Chronic Pain with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) "My story started back in April 2001, when I suddenly lost all function in my right, dominant arm. I was incredibly scared, in intense pain and clueless as to what had happened to me. My arm was stuck in a claw position. I was unable to move my fingers or make a fist. I literally cried everyday from the pain. The atrophy in my arm and especially my wrist was getting so bad such that my right wrist was looking about half the size of my left wrist. I couldn't even pick up a pencil. My husband and I had just started our own business. I had to go to work; it wasn't a choice for me. I would go to work, hold back the tears, work through the pain and come home and break down. That was how I felt every day for almost a year until I met Dr. Mitch Fleisher. Like many folks who have some strange medical condition pop up, I went to several (approximately 20) medical doctors who specialized in nerve disorders. I went to Johns Hopkins University Hospital every other week for that first year meeting with one of the top rheumatologists in the country. He had me do every test under the sun for months, but my situation stumped the man. He didn't know what else to do with me. He told me he didn't know if my arm was "going to make it." He prescribed me some Neurotin, which helped somewhat initially, but nothing long term. Several doctors diagnosed me with RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) and others said I didn't have it. I think they were all guessing, because they felt they HAD to place a diagnosis on it. I had a top surgeon at Johns Hopkins mold a cast for my arm that I had to sleep in every night, which just made my pain worse. This same surgeon gave me a cortisone shot in my wrist and told me that I'd be pain free in 2 days. The shot did nothing. Actually, it did end up burning away the little bit of fatty tissue I had remaining in my wrist, which only made the arm weaker and physically thinner. So, here is where the good news starts. We were referred to Dr. Fleisher and went to meet him, of course, thinking "could this be the doctor who can help me or will this be doctor number 21 on the growing list of doctors who have dismissed me because they, unfortunately, don't know what to do for me?" Dr. Fleisher listened very carefully to my story. He then analyzed my symptoms and prescribed for me my specific, homeopathic constitutional remedy and put me on a supportive program of nutritional supplements, as well as advised me on diet and what foods to avoid, what foods to eat. Within a month, I had great improvement. Dr. Fleisher will take the time necessary to hear your complete story. In fact, he wants and needs to hear your whole story. He puts the pieces together so he can figure out the puzzle. That is what he did for me. He figured out my puzzle and now I have my arm back! I don't walk around in pain every day. Not only can I pick up a pencil again, I can pick up my 2 year old son and my 4 year old daughter. I can type again. I have my life back!! Dr. Mitch has also helped relieve my chiropractor husband of his chronic eczema that defied treatment by other methods, as well as helped our family, including my mom, with many other health problems with homeopathy and nutritional therapy. His natural medical self-care protocols are a valuable resource to us all. Because of his advanced training and special knowledge of both conventional and alternative medicine, I feel that Dr. Fleisher can see outside the box. He keeps himself informed of the latest research. He has a clarity and depth of vision and insight that I hadn't experienced with any of the medical doctors and specialists that I had seen previously. Simply put, Dr. Mitch Fleisher is my "hero" and I am very thankful that he is in my family's and my life."
